Caipirinha is a traditional Brazilian cocktail, made with cachaça, a Brazilian brandy made from sugar cane juice, close to rum. Very easy to make, this recipe transports you immediately in the tropics. A Caipirinha, a national drink from Brazil, served in a short drink glass.


  • 5 cl of Cachaça (rum)
  • 2 teaspoon of powdered sugar
  • 1 lime fruit



Cut the ends of the lime and cut into 8 quarters. Remove the small white parts in the center of the bitter tasting lemon. Put the lime pieces in an old fashioned glass and add the sugar. Crush everything with a muddler to extract the maximum juice. Fill the rest of the glass with crushed ice and pour the Cachaça. Mix lightly with a spoon and serve with two small straws cut with a chisel.

The original recipe of Caipirinha is made with cane sugar, more tasty and less refined than in Europe. If not, use brown sugar. You can also try a variant of vodka: Caipiroska.

To prepare a Caipirinha for 10, 20, 30 or 40 people, simply multiply the amounts indicated in the original recipe by the number of glasses desired.
